ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Barack Obama born in Honolulu, Hawaii on August 4, 1961. Obama spent the first years of his life in Hawaii. When he was 6, he moved with his mother and new stepfather to Indonesia. His mother sent him back to Hawaii when he was 10 years old. He lived with his grandparents. He was on the basketball team. He graduated from high school in 1979 and went to college in California. Barack Obama was junior US senator from Illinois when he released the audacity of hope in 2006.

Obama dedicates the book to his maternal grandmother, Tutu and his mother. First book is “Dreams from my father”-a biography and a deep look in his personal story. Readers all over the world appreciated Obama’s called for a different brand of politics.

Now he is the 45th president of the USA.

The book was published by “Three Rivers Press”, New York in the year of 2006. It is a paperback edition. Total page number 375 and the price is 14.95 US$.

In 2004, Obama gave the keynote address at a Democratic convention. His speech was called The Audacity of Hope. His speech won him great praise and acclaim. He was then elected Senator of Illinois. Obama started thinking of running for President.

 

  1. INTRODUCTION

The audacity Of Hope is an unusual blend of autobiography and policy analysis. It is written by Barack Obama acting president of USA. In the book Obama recount his unique childhood and the insight that racially mixed heritage and experience of living in a number of exotic locales instilled him. He discusses in great detail virtually every major political issue, offering his opinion and possible strategies for reform.

The book title is taken from the key note address he delivered at the 2004 Democratic National Convention, was inspired by the phrase, “Audacity of Hope” which Obama first heard in a sermon by his pastor Chicago’s Trinity Church of Christ. He writes the book in narrative voice. The book was the best seller for many months.

In the Audacity of Hope his overarching message is that America has the inherent potential to offer hope to anyone regardless of their background or experiences.

The book is organized in several chapters. Thoughts are woven his own past and present personal experiences that can inform readers about how Obama thinks and lives.

  1. PROLOGUE

Obama begins the book with brief over view of his political career. After law school he moved to Chicago and while teaching constitutional law as well worked as a community organizer. Obama experienced both success and failures in local politics. He reports that his motivation in entering politics was to cut through decades of polarizing partnership and develop a moderate effective approach. Obama notes that this same impulse promoted him to write The Audacity of Hope.
